“We’ve been renting ever since we started living together. We had a deposit saved and both wanted to buy, we just couldn’t agree on where. I wanted to buy outside the city where we could have more space, but Rose wanted to stay closer to the CBD.
Now we’ve compromised. We’re going to claim the first home owner grant and buy a city apartment. We will live in it for 12 months or so, then we’re going to rent it out as an investment property and rent a house for us to live in further out. That way we’ll get our foot on the property ladder now, and will both get a chance to live in the area we want.”
