A recent study, the 'First Home Buyers Pulse Check’ which was conducted by RAMS, found that 43% of Australians felt that the biggest barrier to getting into the first home was saving the deposit.
The study also found that 1 in 3 Australians who had purchased their home in the last 12 months were either lent money or relied on a monetary gift from family to help them with their finances.
Further, research found that 75% of first home buyers were also turning to their parents for financial advice as well as financial assistance.
While the First Home Owners Grant and the Boost have made it more affordable for first home buyers to enter the property market, the ‘hurdle’ of saving a deposit can still cause stress for first home buyers and can delay their ability to buy a home.
